James, RN Administrator
James is the ASC’s Nurse Administrator. He has over 30 years’ experience in the surgical setting, having previously served as a nurse, certified scrub tech, and anesthesia tech. He is currently still pursuing further education. James is married with 5 children and multiple pets. He loves animals and is a devoted family man and San Antonio Spurs fan. In his spare time, James enjoys playing basketball and fishing.Cynthia, Business Office Manager
Cynthia is a graduate of Kaplan College & Member of American Association for Medical Assistants. Here at the ASC, she serves as the Front Office Lead and is in charge of the business operations and finances. Cynthia is a necessary part of our team & loves providing superior care to our patients.Melanie, Charge RN
Melanie is in her 7th year as a nurse and is a crucial part of our team. Prior to working as a PeriOperative nurse at ASC, she worked in Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Newborn, Pediatric Home Health and Long Term Care. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, as well as, dancing, arts and crafts, singing, and going to see her favorite bands in concert. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. She is also newly engaged!Julie, RN
Julie has spent 18 years in nursing and is a key team member in our PACU area. Julie spent 14 years of her nursing career in ICU/CVICU before making the switch to PACU, where she has been for the last 4 years. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 dogs, as well as their 2 sons. She also enjoys working out, arts and crafts and interior decorating.Chris, RN
Chris has been a nurse for 12 years, all of which has been spent in surgical services. When not in the OR, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, 3 daughters, and 1 son and coaching football and soccer. He also enjoys other sports, including baseball and softball.Esme, RN
Esme has been a nurse for 13 years- the past 3 in PACU & 10 previously in Intermediate ICU/Step-down units in acute hospital settings. She has 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Her hobbies are camping & water sports. She loves relaxing at home on her days off & vacations on the beach.Nakeisha, RN
Nakeisha has been an RN for 3 years. Prior to her surgical nursing experience, she has worked in a Progressive Care Unit and in Telemetry. Nakeisha has a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Wayland Baptist University, as well as, a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Mississippi State University. She has 1 daughter whom she enjoys spending time with. She also enjoys shopping, spending time with family and friends, interior decorating, and traveling.Christi, RN
Christi has been an RN for 2 years. Prior to joining the ASC team, she worked in Dialysis and Cardiology. Before becoming a nurse, Christi enjoyed previous careers in both teaching and as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. Christi is married with 2 children. Sylvia has been an RN for 3 years. She has an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Galen College. Prior tojoining the ASC team, she worked in ocular and GI surgery, pediatric home health, and field nursing.
Sylvia has 2 children, and, in her spare time, enjoys spend time with family and friends, mountain biking,
journalism, and dancing.
Della, RN
Della has been in nursing for 6 years and is an integral part of keeping our team running. She started her career out in Med/Surg nursing, floating to ICU, Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology before becoming a PeriOperative nurse. She has worked in PeriOperative Nursing in PreOP, PACU, and as an OR Circulator for 5 years. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 18 month old son, as well as, dancing, hunting, fishing, and arts and crafts.Scot, Anesthesia Tech
Scot has been in the medical field for 4 years, 2 of which he has spent as an Anesthesia Tech, and is a very important part of our team. Previously Scot was the CEO of an office equipment dealership for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoys various types of fishing, shooting, watching movies, and spending time with his wife, 2 sons, and their 2 dogs.Graciela, Certified Scrub Tech
Graciela is a Certified Scrub Tech, a certification which she earned in 2012, and she is a valued part of our OR team here at ASC. Previously, Graciela also worked as a unit clerk at a major hospital and a telemetry monitor technician. When not in the OR, Graciela enjoys going to the gym, spending time outdoors, at the movies, out with friends, or with her brand new baby niece.Tara, Certified Scrub Tech
Tara is a valuable part of the ASC team. She has been a Certified Scrub Tech for 3 years and, before joining the ASC, worked in both Orthopedics and Cardiovascular surgery. Before her experience as a CST, she worked as an SPD tech for 1 year. In her spare time, Tara enjoys working out, horseback riding, ballet dancing, and spending time with her Great Dane and her Pomeranian. She is also a huge fan of scary movies!Pablo, Scrub Tech
Pablo has spent 30 years as a surgical tech and is an integral part of our team. He was previously employed by the United States Army Special Forces where he was attached to the 7th Army Group for 1 year. Afterward, he opted to changed jobs with the Army and became a surgical tech at Fort Sam Houston for the remainder of his term. When not in the OR, Pablo spends time in the gym and riding his Harley.Shelen, Radiology Tech
Shelen has been a radiology tech since 2009. Prior to joing the ASC team, she worked with largest Orthopedics Group in Corpus Christi as a radiology tech & safety officer for 7 years, before leaving to become a full-time Mom. Shelen is married with a 3-year-old & a baby currently on the way. In her spare time she serves as worship leader with her church & enjoys music & spending time with her family.Brooke, Patient Care Coordinator
Brooke is an integral part of our team and serves as the ASC’s Patient Care Coordinator. Brooke has a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of New Mexico, is married, and has one dog named Max. Dr. John Adams, Gynecology
Dr. Adams is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He earned his MD from Texas A&M University Health Science Center and a BS in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University. He completed his residency training at The National Naval Medical Center and is a published author. He was previously the Residency Program Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and provides his patients a full scope of minimally invasive surgery options.Dr. Ricardo Alvarado, Pain
Dr. Alvarado specializes in the latest advanced interventional pain management techniques for chronic pain, including traditional fluoroscopic approaches, extensive training in advanced ultrasound-guided interventional techniques, spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulator placement, as well as minimally invasive surgical techniques for spinal canal stenosis. He currently has extensive interest and experience in treating Complex Regional Pain Syndromes (RSD) through multiple approaches.Dr. Donald Bacon, Pain
Dr. Bacon is a Spine & Pain Management Specialist who has been practicing Pain Medicine for 37+ years. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology with subspecialty certification in Pain Management, serves on the Board of Directors Emeritus for the Texas Pain Society, and has had extensive experience with the management of chronic pain. He is recognized as a leader in several modalities including spinal and peripheral stimulation as well as intrathecal administration of medication.Dr. Michael Barrett, Podiatry
Dr. Michael Barrett, DPM is dual board certified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in both forefoot and rear-foot, as well as, ankle reconstruction. Providing optimal surgical results in foot and ankle reconstruction, along with rapid recovery for his patients, are among his highest priorities. In his time away from office, he enjoys sailing, cycling, and traveling to Spanish countries. He avidly works out and enjoys staying fit. Dr. DeLeon is a native of Corpus Christi. He earned his Medical Degree and completed his internship in General Surgery at UTHSC in San Antonio. He then finished a residency in Anesthesiology at Rush Medical Center in Chicago followed by a fellowship in Pain Medicine where he received training in both interventional and medical management of pain. He treats a wide variety of pain conditions including acute and chronic back and neck pain, complex regional pain syndrome and pain caused by cancer.Dr. George Galvan, Neurosurgery

Dr. Morrey is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a training focus in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He is committed to quality outcomes for his patients. In 2014 he became the hip and knee reconstructive surgery fellowship program director at UTHSC. He was 1 of 2 US surgeons selected to participate in the John Insall traveling fellowship for knee replacement surgery and is part of creating the first total joint replacement clinical database in San Antonio.Dr. Matthew Murray, Orthopaedics
Dr. Murray is board and subspecialty certified in sports medicine. He completed his fellowship training for surgical sports injuries at The American Sports Medicine Institute under the world-renowned Dr. James Andrews where he cared for numerous professional athletes. He specializes in surgery of athletic injuries to all extremities and performs hundreds of routine arthroscopic procedures each year. Dr. Trampota is Fellowship trained in Pain Medicine and Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology with Subspecialty Certification in Pain Medicine. She is a native of San Antonio and earned her medical degree as well as completed her residency in anesthesiology and post-doctorate fellowship in Pain Medicine at UTHSC in San Antonio. Dr. Vidouria is recognized as a leader in diagnosing and relieving pain. She has been successful in treating persistent migraine pain, spine pain and spasticity. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso and completed her Doctorate of Osteopathy at the University of North Texas – Fort Worth. She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as interventional and chronic pain management. Dr. Whaley, MD specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), sports medicine and adult joint reconstruction. Dr. Whaley's specialty training in arthroscopy includes the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle joints as well as in ligament reconstruction of the shoulder, elbow and the knee. Dr. Whaley is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who also earned his Subspecialty Certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.Show More
